This is one terrific book -- focused, hard-hitting and extremely readable. Everything can be sweeter when time may be short. One of the best books I've found on auditioning. The book is an excellent resource for the Church historian interested in the great basilicas and other religous structures of the City. Oh, we could say that in the end love wins too, so long as we are acknowledging along with the Bible that those who love themselves, and thereby hate God, will suffer eternal defeat in hell. Reading the first book in this series is a must if a reader really wants to appreciate the complexities of the relationship between Alexander and Elizabeth. Having said that, I don't think this book would suit those who wanted to know how Augustus spun his way to the tribunician power, for instance.
