Ritu Sharma is a leading voice on international women s issues and US foreign policy. She is co-founder of Women Thrive Worldwide, a non-profit that places the concerns of women and girls living in poverty at the forefront of US international assistance. She is also the author of "Teach a Woman to Fish." She lives in Annapolis, Maryland.
While there are encouraging stories, such as one organization that created three thriving businesses, the downside is that Nicaragua is riddled with violence toward women and children--the biggest force that keep them in poverty. I try to be modest about it but some are just so easy to follow it is crazy that they turn out as well as they do! Fun book just to look at the pictures even if you never knit a thing from it!!. In my mind, there is no book which better exemplifies what defines and justifies Bali as the jewel in the crown of tropical asian style. What little advice it contains on the subject of succeeding as an artist seems to fall under the heading of common sense. There seems to be more historical detail than some of the other fair isle books (Starmore and Feitelson).
